Literature
Kotaro NAGIRA works with textiles to express his critical views of modern Japanese society.
He gets his inspiration to release the act of weaving from the notion of "making the cloth" and pursues the essence of the act of weaving.
He combines the social psychology of the contemporary with weaving. He is interested in the context of Japan’s mass consumer society and its relation to waste generation and management. He uses industrial waste and discarded articles such as used clothes, remains of yarn made in textile factories, video tapes and plastic bags. By weaving those, he expresses the state and psychology of people´s life in modern society.
